The empirical formula is C21H25ClO6•C3H8O2•H2O and the molecular weight is 502.98. The molecular formula is C27H32ClNO10 and the molecular weight is 566.00.The chemical structure is:<img alt="Chemical Structure" src="steglatro-01.jpg"/>Ertugliflozin L-pyroglutamic acid is a white to off-white powder that is soluble in ethyl alcohol and acetone, slightly soluble in ethyl acetate and acetonitrile and very slightly soluble in water.STEGLATRO is supplied as film-coated tablets, containing 6.48 or 19.43 mg of ertugliflozin L-pyroglutamic acid, which is equivalent to 5 and 15 mg of ertugliflozin.Inactive ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, sodium starch glycolate, and magnesium stearate.The film coating contains: hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, macrogol, triacetin, titanium dioxide and iron oxide red.</section>

Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is an oral medication prescribed for individuals with diabetes, heart disease, or kidney disease to enhance their health outcomes. Here's how Farxiga is utilized:

Farxiga is employed in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, complementing dietary and exercise measures to regulate blood sugar levels.

It helps lower the likelihood of hospitalization due to heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who have either cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.

Farxiga reduces the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization for heart failure, and urgent heart failure visits in adults already dealing with heart failure.

It also diminishes the risk of further deterioration in kidney function, progression to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), cardiovascular-related deaths, and hospitalization due to heart failure in adults with chronic kidney disease who are at risk. 

Farxiga operates by inhibiting the sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) found in the kidneys' proximal renal tubules. This inhibition prevents the reabsorption of glucose, causing it to be excreted in the urine. Additionally, Farxiga reduces sodium reabsorption in the kidneys, affecting various physiological functions. These include reducing the heart's preload and afterload, regulating sympathetic activity, and decreasing renal pressure.

Farxiga received FDA approval on January 8, 2014, and belongs to the class of medications known as selective sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors.
