Aimovig is a prescription medication that adults can self-inject once a month under the skin to prevent migraine headaches. The most common side effects are injection site reactions and constipation. Nurtec ODT is a medication that can be placed under or onto the tongue to treat migraine symptoms in adults. When taken every other day, it can also be used to prevent episodic migraine. Nurtec ODT works by blocking CGRP, a protein believed to contribute to migraine attacks by causing pain, blood vessel dilation, and inflammation. The medication is well-tolerated, with less than 2% of individuals reporting nausea. Nurtec ODT is FDA approved for the following indications: Migraine and Migraine prevention.

Acute treatment of migraine: 75 mg as needed. Preventive treatment of episodic migraine: 75 mg every other day. Maximum daily dose: 75 mg.
