Pharmacology
Epinephrine acts on both alpha and beta-adrenergic receptors: alpha-receptor activation lessens vasodilation and increased vascular permeability during anaphylaxis, while beta-receptor activation causes bronchial smooth muscle relaxation and alleviates bronchospasm, pruritus, urticaria, and angioedema.
Epinephrine acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors to reduce vasodilation and increased vascular permeability and on beta-adrenergic receptors to relax bronchial smooth muscle, thereby alleviating anaphylaxis symptoms including hypotension, bronchospasm, pruritus, urticaria, and angioedema.
