Dosing
Diabetes Mellitus, Non-Insulin-Dependent Inject SC within 15 minutes before a meal into abdominal wall, thigh, upper arm, or buttocks; typically dosed twice daily; individualize dose based on metabolic needs and blood glucose monitoring results.
Diabetes Mellitus, Non-Insulin-Dependent 5 mg orally once daily, with or without food.
Contraindications
  • During episodes of hypoglycemia
  • Previous hypersensitivity reactions to HUMALOG Mix75/25 or any of its excipients
  • Hypersensitivity to linagliptin or any excipient in TRADJENTA, including reactions such as anaphylaxis, angioedema, exfoliative skin conditions, urticaria, or bronchial hyperreactivity

Pharmacology
Insulin analog; regulates glucose metabolism by stimulating peripheral glucose uptake by skeletal muscle and fat and inhibiting hepatic glucose production, while also inhibiting lipolysis and proteolysis and enhancing protein synthesis.
DPP-4 inhibitor; linagliptin reversibly inhibits DPP-4, the enzyme that degrades incretin hormones GLP-1 and GIP, thereby increasing active incretin concentrations, stimulating glucose-dependent insulin release from pancreatic beta cells, and reducing glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha-cells.
