Dosing
Diabetes Mellitus SC injection 2-3 times daily approximately 30 minutes before meals; individualize dose based on metabolic needs, blood glucose monitoring results, and glycemic control goal; do not mix with other insulins or administer IV.
Diabetes Mellitus Administer subcutaneously within 15 minutes before or immediately after a meal into the abdominal wall, thigh, upper arm, or buttocks; HUMALOG U-100 may also be administered by continuous subcutaneous infusion via insulin pump or by intravenous infusion (diluted, under medical supervision); dosage must be individualized based on route, metabolic needs, and blood glucose monitoring results.

  • Hypersensitivity to HUMULIN R U-500 or any of its excipients

  • Hypersensitivity to insulin lispro or any excipient in HUMALOG
Adverse Reactions

Pharmacology
Human insulin; lowers blood glucose by stimulating peripheral glucose uptake in skeletal muscle and fat and inhibiting hepatic glucose production, and also inhibits lipolysis and proteolysis while enhancing protein synthesis.
Insulin lispro is a rapid-acting human insulin analog that lowers blood glucose by stimulating peripheral glucose uptake by skeletal muscle and fat and inhibiting hepatic glucose production; it is equipotent to human insulin on a molar basis but has a more rapid onset and shorter duration of action.
