Pharmacology
Insulin glargine is a long-acting human insulin analog that regulates glucose metabolism by stimulating peripheral glucose uptake in skeletal muscle and fat and inhibiting hepatic glucose production, providing a relatively constant concentration/time profile over 24 hours with no pronounced peak after subcutaneous injection.
Long-acting insulin analog; regulates glucose metabolism by stimulating peripheral glucose uptake in skeletal muscle and fat, inhibiting hepatic glucose production, inhibiting lipolysis and proteolysis, and enhancing protein synthesis.
