Dosing
Psoriasis vulgaris Apply to affected areas once daily for up to 4 weeks; maximum dose not to exceed 60 g every 4 days; rub in gently; do not use with occlusive dressings, on the face, groin, or axillae, or if skin atrophy is present at the treatment site.
Seborrheic dermatitis, Psoriasis vulgaris Apply a thin layer once daily to affected areas of body and/or scalp when not wet; rub in completely; for topical use only, not for ophthalmic, oral, or intravaginal use.
Contraindications
  • Moderate to severe liver impairment (Child-Pugh B or C)
Adverse Reactions
Postmarketing Application site burning, atrophy, striae, telangiectasia, dryness, perioral dermatitis, secondary infection, miliaria, cataracts, glaucoma, increased intraocular pressure.
Most common (>=1%) - Seborrheic dermatitis nasopharyngitis, nausea, headache
Most common (>=1%) - Psoriasis vulgaris headache, diarrhea, nausea, nasopharyngitis
Pharmacology
Enstilar Foam combines calcipotriene hydrate, a synthetic vitamin D3 analog, and betamethasone dipropionate, a synthetic corticosteroid; exact mechanisms of action in the treatment of plaque psoriasis are unknown.
PDE4 inhibitor; roflumilast and its active N-oxide metabolite inhibit PDE4, a major cyclic AMP-metabolizing enzyme, leading to accumulation of intracellular cyclic AMP; the specific mechanism(s) by which roflumilast exerts its therapeutic action is not well defined.
